Any item that allow a tattoo artist to better create a tattoo qualifies as a basic tattoo supply. While equipment like tattoo machines, inks and needles are extremely important other supplies make the process of tattooing easier. Many supplies are designed to keep the process of tattooing cleaner and safer for both the artist and the client. Many supplies have become mandatory for the tattooing process. Without the proper supplies artists are not able to provide their clients with their full potential of art work or safety. Purchasing the right supplies will lead to the best overall results of the finished tattoo and a happy client.
There are many tattoo supplies that a tattoo artist can choose from. Here are the basic supplies that you should notice in every tattoo shop!
Gloves: Tattoo artists MUST wear gloves at all times during the tattoo procedure. This is not only to prevent you from getting an infection, but also to prevent the artist from getting an infection. When you are getting a tattoo you are, willfully, creating an open wound on your body. Gloves eliminate many risks of infection and transmission of blood.
Ink Cups: Tattoo needles are dipped in an array of inks so artists can achieve the vibrant and unique colors required for many tattoo’s. However, tattoo needles penetrate the skin and are covered with blood and plasma that can transmit disease and infection. To keep each client safe tattoo artists use tattoo cups to pour small amounts of ink into for each client. After a session the excess ink is thrown away to prevent it from being used on other clients.
Plastic covers: Because the tattoo process is quite messy and also quite dangerous there are many precautions that must be taken by artists to prevent infection . Many times when tattoos are given the client will bleed, to prevent this blood from being transferred to other pieces of equipment often times tattoo artist use plastic covers. There are disposable plastic covers that are designed to protect the power supply, the cords and even the gun itself from blood and ink.
Sanitizer: While tattoo artists should take all possible precautions to keep their equipment clean of all blood and other contaminants they must sanitize their gun between every client. Many tattoo shops have a sanitizer that heats metal equipment to high temperatures to kill all bacteria. These sanitized items are then sealed in air tight bags and not opened until another tattoo is performed.
